Ray Luse, M.S. |
Ray began his career in 1985 as a service engineer/physics assistant performing Linear Accelerator repair and quality assurance at the Providence Cancer Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1989 he took a similar position at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After completing a 2-year contract coincident with the Gulf War he was hired as a Jr. physicist at the Swedish Tumor Institute in Seattle.
Mentored by the physicists and physicians at the Tumor Institute Ray gained a primary expertise in LDR and HDR brachytherapy. In 1994 he began teaching the physics portion of the monthly prostate brachytherapy course at the Northwest Tumor Institute with Doctors Blasko, Grimm and Ragde. In that same year he began a 14-year consulting relationship with Pro-Qura. During those years he completed an M.A. in Theology from Fuller Seminary, an M.S. in Physics from the University of Washington and ABR certification in 2000. With the formation of the Seattle Prostate Institute in 1997 Ray began performing routine plan reviews and participated in the quarterly quality improvement committee.
Ray is now a Sr. Physicist at the Providence Cancer Center in Spokane, WA. and recently passed the 10-year service mark. He oversees EBRT, LDR and HDR brachytherapy, including IMRT since 2003 and Mammosite since 2006.
